Kansas City service
Have your reception banquet at Union Station, Kansas City, on the static Metis. Event tent and additional seating available as well as "bar car." Prices start from as little as $500 per night.
The Metis, built by the Canadian Car & Foundry Company in 1928, served as a special compartment-library-observation lounge car on the Canadian National Railway. It was used extensively on the St. Lawrence Special and served Queen Elizabeth II when she traveled in Canada. It was recently used by the Kerry/Edwards presidential campaign as their whistle-stop presidential campaign train in 2004. The Metis has rich mahogany interiors with beautiful classic furniture and carpeting. If you ever wanted to impress someone, take them for a ride on the Metis.
With more than 50 years of service on the CN, the Metis has been modernized several times. Its current configuration sleeps eight people in four private compartments. The dining area seats eight people at a sitting. The lounge area is equipped with a complete home entertainment center including satellite television. Metis sports a rear observation platform, central air conditioning and a complete modern galley. It has its own generator and is self-contained. It is currently certified to operate on AMTRAK trains.
