Have your next tailgate party on the Metis |
The Metis, built by the Canadian Car & Foundry Company in 1928, served as a special compartment-library-observation
lounge car on the Canadian National Railway. It was used
extensively on the St. Lawrence Special and served
Queen Elizabeth II when she traveled in Canada. It was
recently used by the Kerry/Edwards presidential campaign as their whistle-stop presidential campaign train in 2004. | |
| With more than 50 years of service on the CN, the Metis has
been modernized several times. Its current configuration sleeps eight people in four private compartments. The dining area seats eight. The lounge area is equipped with a complete home entertainment center including satellite television.
Metis sports a rear observation platform, central air conditioning and a complete modern galley. It has its own
generator and is self-contained. It is currently certified to operate on AMTRAK trains. |
The Metis has rich mahogany interiors with beautiful classic furniture and carpeting. If you ever need to impress someone, take them for a ride on the Metis. |
